Eid al-Adha Countdown
The festival of sacrifice — 10 Dhu al-Hijjah.
Eid al-Adha is in 301 days — Monday, 17 May 2027.
What is Eid al-Adha?
Eid al-Adha (Bakra Eid) is celebrated on 10 Dhu al-Hijjah, commemorating Prophet Ibrahim’s ﷺ willingness to sacrifice his son in obedience to Allah.
When is Eid al-Adha in 2027?
In India, Eid al-Adha falls on Monday, 17 May 2027 (in 301 days), based on the expected moon sighting.
This date is calculated for India and may shift by a day depending on the actual crescent sighting — final confirmation comes from your local Hilal committee after Maghrib. Because India follows local sighting, the date can differ from Saudi Arabia by about a day.
Significance
It coincides with the completion of Hajj. Those who are able perform Qurbani (animal sacrifice) and distribute the meat to family, neighbours and the poor. In India the Qurbani window follows the local Eid date, which can differ from Saudi Arabia.
How it is observed
The day begins with the Eid prayer, followed by Qurbani, festive meals and visiting family. The sacrifice may be offered on the 10th, 11th, 12th or 13th.
