Day of Arafah Countdown
The greatest day of Hajj — 9 Dhu al-Hijjah.
Day of Arafah is in 300 days — Sunday, 16 May 2027.
What is Day of Arafah?
The Day of Arafah is the 9th of Dhu al-Hijjah, when pilgrims gather on the plain of Arafah. It is the day before Eid al-Adha.
When is Day of Arafah in 2027?
In India, Day of Arafah falls on Sunday, 16 May 2027 (in 300 days), based on the expected moon sighting.
This date is calculated for India and may shift by a day depending on the actual crescent sighting — final confirmation comes from your local Hilal committee after Maghrib. Because India follows local sighting, the date can differ from Saudi Arabia by about a day.
Significance
It is the most important day of Hajj. For those not on pilgrimage, fasting on Arafah is a great Sunnah — it is reported to expiate the sins of the past and coming year. Note the fast follows your local (Indian) date.
How it is observed
Non-pilgrims fast and make abundant dua, as the Prophet ﷺ said the best dua is the dua of the Day of Arafah.
