Chand Ki Tarikh Today Delhi
When Delhi announces the chand, much of North India follows. Crores of Muslims wait for the word from Fatehpuri Masjid before confirming Ramadan or Eid, so the Islamic date today in Delhi — shown live in the card above — often becomes the date far beyond the city. Namaz times and moonrise below are set for Delhi's own location.

Delhi Mein Chand Ka Elaan
Delhi ka chand ka faisla centres on Fatehpuri Masjid in Chandni Chowk, where the central Ruet-e-Hilal committee sits under the masjid's Shahi Imam. The committee collects sighting reports from Delhi and from ulama across North India before announcing the new month. The Imarat-e-Shariah Hind, headquartered at the same masjid, gives that announcement reach far beyond the capital: cities across UP, Haryana, Punjab and further out commonly follow Delhi's declaration.
The Shahi Jama Masjid, a short walk away, makes its own announcement too, and the two almost always land on the same date. On a 29th evening in Ramadan or Shawwal, Old Delhi effectively holds its breath between maghrib and the committee's decision. Once the Delhi chand is confirmed, the news moves through Matia Mahal's food lanes faster than any TV ticker.
